Pritchard Architecture Appointed to South Downs National Park Authority Heritage Framework
We are delighted to announce that Pritchard Architecture has been appointed as the single supplier to the South Downs National Park Authority’s professional services framework for heritage assets.
The appointment will see our team lead a multidisciplinary commission providing specialist services to support the conservation, refurbishment, repair and sympathetic conversion of historic buildings across the National Park Authority’s portfolio of owned and rented assets.
Our in-house team, supported by a trusted network of external consultants, will provide a comprehensive range of professional services including conservation architecture, principal designer services, mechanical and electrical engineering, quantity surveying and structural engineering.
Stretching approximately 140km across Southern England, the South Downs National Park is characterised by its distinctive chalk downland, which accounts for around 75% of the National Park. This landscape is complemented by diverse environments, including the densely wooded Western Weald, creating a unique and varied setting for its historic buildings and communities.
Delivering the framework will require the careful integration of technical quality, environmental stewardship, statutory compliance, community engagement and practical delivery within a protected and lived-in landscape.
The commission brings together a team with expertise in landscape-led design, ecosystem services, sustainability, the use of local materials and the conservation and adaptation of historic buildings within protected landscapes. This approach will enable the team to develop solutions that respect the character and significance of the National Park while supporting the continued use and long-term sustainability of its heritage assets.
We look forward to working together with the authority over the coming years.
