Part 1 Architectural Assistant

Pritchard Architecture is a heritage led architectural practice with an exciting portfolio of conservation, conversion and new build projects. We are located within the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and we are looking for Part 1 Architectural Assistant to work within our existing team. We have a growing portfolio of heritage projects across a range of sectors including museums, listed houses, public sector and developer led schemes. 

We are looking for a Part 1 Architectural Assistant with the following qualities to join our team: 

  • excellent design, creativity and technical skills 

  • have great communication and presentation skills, with a high standard of written and spoken English 

  • ability to work to deadlines 

  • confidence to take on responsibilities 

  • be able to manage workload and priorities across a number of projects 

  • have the ability to work independently and as part of a team 

  • be proactive and have ambition to take on new challenges 

  • demonstrate an interest of working within a heritage environment 

  • have CAD experience, ideally in Vectorworks, Sketch-up and Adobe Suite

Architect - Portsmouth

Pritchard Architecture is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Architect to join our growing team in Portsmouth.

We are a heritage-led architectural practice with a dynamic and expanding portfolio that includes conservation, adaptive reuse, and carefully considered new-build projects. From listed buildings and museums to complex public-sector schemes, our work is defined by thoughtful design, a deep respect for historic environments, and a collaborative approach.

About the Role
Based in the heart of the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of heritage and conservation projects across the South of England. You'll be joining a small, friendly, and committed team working on meaningful projects that bring cultural and historic value to the communities we serve.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a recently qualified Architect (ARB registered)

  • Has a genuine interest in heritage and proven experience working with historic buildings

  • Possesses excellent design, creativity, and problem-solving skills

  • Communicates clearly and confidently in both written and spoken English

  • Is well organised, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Can work both independently and collaboratively as part of a close-knit team

  • Is proactive and keen to develop professionally in a supportive environment

  • Is proficient in CAD software, ideally Vectorworks and SketchUp

Requirements:

  • ARB-registered Architect

  • Full UK driving licence and own transport

  • Right to work in the UK
