Rum Store Submitted for Planning & Listed Building Consent

A three-story red brick building under a twilight sky with people walking and talking in front, including a family with two children.

We are pleased to announce that the Rum Store project has been formally submitted for planning and listed building consent—an important step in revitalising this historically significant site into a dynamic and sustainable commercial space that will support Gosport’s thriving marine industry.

The proposal includes the reconstruction of the building’s lost second storey, destroyed by bomb damage during WWII, along with the addition of a striking rooftop terrace bar, offering panoramic views over Portsmouth Harbour. Our design carefully balances heritage preservation with contemporary functionality, ensuring the Rum Store’s distinctive character is protected while integrating modern enhancements to serve its new commercial purpose. The scheme is underpinned by thoughtful material selection, innovative spatial planning, and a strong commitment to sustainability.

We look forward to collaborating with planning authorities and stakeholders as the project progresses. The application can be tracked and commented on via Gosport Borough Councils dedicated project page:
