Down Farm Barn Granted Planning Permission & Listed Building Consent
Our first site within Breamore Estate has been granted planning permission and listed building consent. The project will include the repair of the historic barn and its conversion into a four bed house to bring the site back into use.
As part of a wider scheme to bring vacant farm buildings back into use across the estate, the proposals seeks to retain the historic character and form of the barn whilst meeting the demands of modern residential requirements. This has been achieved through thoughtful and sensitive solutions specific to the context and the agricultural nature of the barn, resulting in exciting internal spaces within a peaceful rural setting.
As part of one of the early farmsteads within the Breamore Estate, Down Farm Barn, recently listed as a Grade II Listed Building, is understood to have been built in the late 16th / early 17th century. There are several sets of carpenters marks, found on some of the adjoining timber posts and wall plates using old Roman numeral conventions, providing evidence for the survival of the barn along with its construction.
